Welcome Wanderer
What is this website?
Open Source Wizard is my personal space for documenting what I learn while working through embedded systems, software engineering concepts, and side projects.
I first had the idea for this blog almost a year ago, when I started realizing that software development was much broader than just web and mobile. I wanted a platform where I could explain the embedded and software concepts I was struggling with, both for myself and for anyone else who might find them useful.
However at the time I just could not find the time to build such a project, and I went back to using pen and paper to explain these topics to me.
First iteration
First steps towards development were made last year around October, however as I started over-planning the project in the start I barely got anywhere with development. The mistake was trying to do everything at once, and thus that mistake resulted in nothing getting done.
The issue of time
After that, the project kept drifting further into the future. College took most of my time, and whatever free time I had left usually went into improving my embedded skills.
Work on the project
After finishing my latest round of exams in April, I finally had a small window of time to work on a couple of personal projects ( around 2-3 weeks ). One of them was Open Source Wizard.
Everything takes longer in software development
At first, I thought I could finish it in a week, maybe ten days. That turned out to be unrealistic.
The project was postponed for the first week, and after I started working on the project I realized that as always this whole thing will take longer than expected.
After spending around 2-3 weeks in intense development ( and roughly 3-4 days just refactoring messy code ) the initial version of the project is now done!
Going forward
For a better overview of the mission of this project you can check out the About page.
You can expect articles focused on in-depth explanations of embedded engineering topics as well as a occasional article on other software development domains I find interesting.
Also comprehensive project entries where I will walk you through my personal projects from idea to launch, the challenges I faced as well as lessons learned.
I will do my best to publish at least once every 2 weeks up to once a week, so be sure to keep coming back! A RSS feed is also planned to be added to the website.
